THE CLAIM: NASAL IRRIGATION CAN EASE ALLERGY SYMPTOMS
For some, the neti pot, a nasal irrigator that resembles a small teapot, has become an alternative remedy. While it is not nearly as convenient as popping a pill or using a spray, several recent studies have found that nasal irrigation can reduce symptoms of allergies and other nasal problems.
One benefit is that irrigation can clear nasal passages without dryness or "rebound" congestion.
Researchers found regular nasal irrigation with a mild saline solution significantly eased symptoms and helped reduce the need for steroid nasal sprays. Over months, the scientists found that those treated with nasal irrigation reported greater improvements than treated with a spray.
Studies suggest that nasal irrigation can reduce sinus and allergy symptoms.
LAST WEIGHT GAIN FOR PREGNANT WOMEN
For years, overweight women who become pregnant have been advised to limit their weight gain to 25 pounds over nine months.
However, health officials sharply reduced that number for many of them. Overweight and obese women, or those who gain excessive weight during pregnancy, are at higher risk for complications such as gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, besides children whose mothers gained too much weight during pregnancy are more likely to be overweight or obese themselves
Nevertheless, gaining too little weight is also a concern: low- birth-weight babies are at risk for several health problems. Women carrying twins or multiples advised to gain more weight than those carrying a single baby. The pregnant women should have an ideal weight to avoid the problems of health
TO IMPROVE FITNESS, TRY TO SLEEP
New research suggest that simply getting more sleep can improve athletic performance, so people don’t need workouts or weight training to improve their fitness.
For two weeks, five members of the Stanford women’s tennis maintained their regular schedules, sleeping and working out as usual. Then the player extended their sleep to 10 hours a night for five to six weeks. After increasing sleep, the athletes performed better on all the drills.
The research was presented at the Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies. Although the research was small and improvement may have been the result of additional practice time. Nevertheless, the size of the change suggests the athletes received a direct benefit from more sleep.
Who took part in the study also felt better and realized for the first time the real effect sleep could have on performance.
so people should try sleep more for improve their fitness
